Members:

Are you looking for an avenue for your generosity during these challenging times? Here are ideas for your consideration.

The SRTC-SEA has been supporting the Suffern Soup Kitchen and the Sloatsburg Food Pantry. Both of these non-profit organizations do yeoman work in supporting the real food needs of the local community that has only gotten more urgent during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here are descriptions of how you can help:

                              Christ Church Soup Kitchen Donations

LAST YEAR OUR MEMBERS HAVE DONATED A TOTAL OF:

 $6600.00

I am very pleased to report, as of Oct. 21, 2021 our members have donated a total of $3844.00 to the Christ Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen

A thank you letter from the Rev. Dale L. Cranston:

Joyce (Nencetti)-- thank you for dropping off your latest gift of Financial Support for our Feeding Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church in Suffern, New York.

This comes from the Suffern Retired Teachers, to whom we are profoundly grateful. So far, this year, the Teachers have been incredibly generous with $6200 in gifts. This exceeds last year's generosity by more than quadrupling it. We are in awe of the response of the Teachers during this particularly difficult time in our lives.

We continue to give out lunches (bagged) every day of the week, with no questions asked. Generally, the people who come are those who are "food insecure" which is a polite way of saying "hungry". They have no available food and for some, this is their only meal each day. Due to the Corona Virus, I cannot allow anyone in the buildings (as Joyce knows) but we can make sure they get at least one decent meal each day.

We have started a Food Pantry where people can sign up to receive free groceries. When they sign up they tell us how many people are in their family and if there are any food allergies. We then put together boxes of (mostly) non-perishables to last them one week. Currently, on this scale, we are feeding distributing approximately 5100+ meals each month with an increase each month.

With your leadership, Joyce, and the great, kind generosity of your colleagues, we will be continuing these vital ministries; as I have pointed out, we are the only seven day a week feeding ministry in the County of Rockland.

God bless you and your teachers always.

SLOATSBURG FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS

The Sloatsburg Food Pantry is an organization of committed volunteers with a broad base of community support. Their goal is to provide supplemental, nutritionally balanced food to those in need, while respecting the dignity of each person they serve. The Sloatsburg Food Pantry serves those living in Sloatsburg, Suffern, Hillburn, Montebello, and the Town of Tuxedo.

Currently due to the Covid-19 situation, the Food Pantry is only accepting financial donations to accomplish their mission instead of food donations. The number of clients they are serving has increased dramatically due to the drastic change in the economy.
